  • 1947: Founding of Express Internationale Speditionsgesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung as private company
  • 1950: Collective rail transport begins to Eastern Europe (COMECON)
  • 1953: Air freight business launched
  • 1956: Collective rail transport begins from Austria to Soviet Union
  • 1957: First rail transports to Iran begin through USSR
  • 1958: Company begins sea transportation as Austrian export goods shipped to China via Polish ports; trade fair department established
  • 1963: Founding of Interfracht Internationale Frachtdienste Ges.m.b.H. as private company
  • 1967: First transport to Japan by rail through USSR; following closure of Suez Canal, Express organises rail transports to Iran
  • 1968: Magazine and office building constructed at Vienna Freudenau
  • 1974: Container traffic begins to and from Far East via trans-Siberian railway
  • 1987: Awarded ‘state coat of arms’, Austrian symbol of quality service
  • 1991: Legal form changed to public limited company
  • 1993: Dangerous goods store opened in Vienna Freudenau warehouse
  • 1996: Awarded ISO 9002 certificate
  • 1999: Shares taken over by Österreichische Bundesbahnen (Austrian Railways); conversion to EN ISO 9001
  • 2001: Merger of Express Internationale Spedition AG with Interfracht Internationale Frachtdienste GmbH to form EXPRESS-INTERFRACHT Internationale Spedition GmbH
  • 2002: Logistics platform MVO Santo Stino (Italy) set up with Italian partners
  • 2003: Branches, subsidiaries and participations in Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia-Montenegro, Greece and Turkey
  • 2004: More branches, subsidiaries and participations in Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Ukraine and Bulgaria; AgroFreight founded to bundle agricultural transports within Rail Cargo Austria AG; takeover of Dolphin Shipping Transportagentur GmbH
  • 2005: Entry into Swedish market with founding of Express Scandinavia AB; successful security and quality assessment according to SQAS (Security and Quality Assessment System) of European Chemicals Industry Confederation (CEFIC); participation in Intereuropa FLG, d.o.o. (Slovenia)
  • 2006: Office opened in Salzburg. Entry into market in Spain following acquisition of Burgysped S.l., based in Irun.
  • 2007: Work begins at location in Austrian town of Kufstein. Further expansion in Serbia following takeover of company Spedal Plus, based in Belgrade. Consolidation of network in Romania (in EXPRESS-INTERFRACHT Romania SRL) and the Czech Republic (in EXPRESS-INTERFRACHT mezinárodní spedice CZ s.r.o.). Concentration of business activities in Germany through founding of EXPRESS-INTERFRACHT Deutschland GmbH.
